This event is being held to honor our hometown hero, Captain Christopher S. Cash, who died in service to his country in Iraq. Proceeds from the race will go into the Capt. Christopher Cash Memorial Foundation of NC, Inc. which awards annual scholarships in his memory. For more information about "Operation Hometown Heroes" please click here.
In its fourth year in 2008 this race drew a record field of 504 entries, making it Greenville’s largest race. Nicholas Kurgat won the featured 10 Miler in a course-record 51:20. Divinia Jepkogei won the women’s title in 59:51 – a new course record for the women. Jason Pfruender won the 5K in 17: 42. Abby Fuquay won the women’s competition in 21:28.
Blake Roberson holds the course record in the 5K of 16:23.
Christine Reaser (19:29) holds the women’s course mark in the 5K.
Both races begin at 1 p.m. and the certified courses are described as “flat and fast.” Both races start and finish
at the Town Common in Greenville. Both races will be timed using the ChampionChip.

Race day registration is from 11:00 - 12:30 at the Greenville Town Common (start/finish area). Please note registration will close at 12:30. Race starts at 1:00 p.m.
Team Competition
Team competitions in both the 5k and the 10-Mile runs, must include three (3) and no more than five (5) individuals. Team scores will only include the first three (3) finishers on each team. Awards will be given to the top three teams. Team registration forms must be mailed together in order to be entered and registered as a team.

Late entrants can also register at Omega Sports on December 5, 20089from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. or on race day at the Greenville Town Common (start/finish area) from 11:00 -12:30 p.m. Race starts at 1:00 p.m.
Chips can only be picked up on race day at the Greenville Town Common (start/finish area) starting at 11:00 a.m.

Top Three Overall Male & Female Finishers will be presented a Cash award and unique trophy. Top Three Male & Female Finishers in Each Age Group will be presented a unique trophy. All finishers will be presented a finisher medal.

Age groups are as follows: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-55, 56-59, 60 and over.
